Greg Mathes – Lead Vocals
Long-time musician from the Bay Area, Greg has been rocking out since high school. Inspired by decades of every flavor of rock imaginable, his favorite artists span styles from across the board. From the smooth clear vocals of artists like George Harrison, Kevin Cronin, and Dennis DeYoung to the southern rasp of Don Henley and Tom Petty, Greg draws from them all. In addition to duties as lead vocalist, he’s at times had the role of drummer, bassist, and guitarist in various bands over the years. But at his core, Greg’s always been “just a singer in a rock & roll band!” |
David Stanley – Bass
Our young phenom, David joined the band at age 14. He has been playing the bass since he was about 10 years old, and hasn’t been able to stop since. Although usually playing rock, he prefers heavier metal bands such as Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, Of Mice & Men and All That Remains. In addition to playing the bass, David spends a large amount of his time gaming and dancing. Preferring to play story-driven and strategy games as well as East Coast Swing dancing, he is currently dancing competitively, and you’ll often catch him doing 20’s Charleston while playing on-stage. |
Joe Matteoni – Drums & Percussion
At the age of 11 Joe heard the Benny Goodman song “sing sing sing” featuring a drum solo by Gene Krupa. It was at that moment he knew that he wanted to be a drummer. He played in a few different bands during his high school and early college years playing several different types of venues. Heavily influenced by the bands Rush, Van Halen, Metallica, and Queensryche as well as jazz and blues music, he began to create his own style of drumming, which usually involved breaking several drumsticks during a practice session. Now he enjoys playing with style focused more on creativity than hard pounding drums. |
Jeff Wagner – Rhythm Guitar
Jeff grew up listening to Top 40 AM radio. He started playing guitar in his early twenties. He joined the Agonal Rhythm Band in 2001, gigged for a few years until the band broke up. Played in a couple bands with Steve Stanley in the interim. Favorite songwriter: Jackson Browne All-time favorite group: The Eagles Best musical memories: Seeing Jimi Hendrix perform live at the Sacramento State College Men’s Gym, seeing the Eagles play on their Desperado and On the Border tours, and playing with the Public Safety Band. |
Steve Stanley – Lead Guitar
Steve has been playing guitar for about 40 years and loves all styles of music. Any live music is mesmerizing to him. His wife knows that no matter where they are, if there’s live music playing, he will stay and watch until the band quits. Influenced as a young boy by guitarists such as Jimmy Page, David Gilmour and Eddie Van Halen, he could always be found sitting on the edge of his bed, headphones on, trying to play the amazing sounds coming from the stereo. Later he liked the alternative music of the 80’s, bands like Oingo Boingo, The Cure, The Eurythmics, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, The Thompson Twins and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. He also loves the guitar virtuosity of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. (what serious guitarist wouldn’t?) Steve can still be found in front of a computer with a guitar in his lap, laying down tracks and listening closely to the intricate nuances by so many of his guitar heroes. |
